When harassment is passed off as being friendly...

Friends, this is not how you approach someone if you want to befriend them. NO, okay?

A screen grab of a stranger's messages

General advice:

Texting etiquette #1:

Introduce yourself when you message someone for the first time (or you're texting them after a long time but you've only known them professionally).

Texting etiquette #2:

Tell them how you got their phone number. If you don't have the sense to, at least tell them clearly when they ask.

Texting etiquette #3:

State your intent very clearly. Tell them why you're texting them. Don't waste their time.
If you cannot clearly state these parameters, do NOT text them. Please.

Moving on to more important stuff, <rant>what in the hell?! I assure you, if you spend two minutes of your time to sit and think, you'll find better ways to spend time than by harassing women!

Like, why on earth is this so common? It's bloody messed up is what it is! Even though most of the times, it's just block and chill, why the heck do we have to put up with crap like this?

One of my friends was terrified when she started getting creepy AF messages from a bunch of people within a span of 7 days. She was bloody petrified for almost a week after that, worrying if someone is intentionally giving out her phone number to pervs. Sadly, she was more worried that if her parents got to know about it, they'd somehow penalise HER for it.

And I don't even understand why! Is it because you have nothing better to do with your life?
Is it some kind of quest? "Hey, let's see how much I harass today!"
Do you wake up plan your day around this? "Hmm, let's scare the shit out of X after dinner, Y after 10, maybe try and fit in Z too, or should I leave Z for tomorrow?"
Does harassing women make you feel better about yourself? "Aww, YUSS, I'm such a useless pile of crap that being able to affect random strangers is the only thing that makes me feel better about myself"

I hope someday you are on the receiving end of such terrorising behaviour for absolutely no fault of yours. I hope you learn what it feels like. I hope you curl up and curse yourself for all the creepy, abusive things you did in the past! </rant>

We all receive messages from strange men looking to 'befriend' us. They threaten, bully, and abuse us for no fault of ours.
How would you feel about posting screenshots of messages you receive from such people? Should we post their numbers and shame them for the whole world to see? Let us know in the comments!
