A woman's life, honour and dignity lie in her human capability, not her virginity

I always hear Indians saying that if an Indian girl loses her virginity premaritally, in any way, rape, consensual sex with boyfriend who eventually leaves, under trustee, under deal - like Aruvi and Arangetram, her life is spoiled, her dignity and honor are gone.

Nope. A girls life, dignity and honor aren't situated between her legs. Whatever happened there in no way alters her life in any way - even if it involves pregnancy, it shouldn't be let to alter her life in any way. Best example? Maa short film.

In our new Facebook page, Karutthu Kannammaa 2.0, a girl messaged us with a story where her friend loses her virginity to her boyfriend who proceeds to breakup with her. As usual, the lines, "her life is spoiled, her dignity and honor are gone and her life is a big question mark" are peppered in her story. My advice to the girl?

"Her life doesn't lie in her 'innocence and virginity'. When he can be so guilt free and live normally after losing his 'innocence and virginity', she should too. Her life lies in her education, job and human capability. Don't ask for your rights - take them. Who are they to give you rights? Leave that asshole and his typical family and soldier on. I understand it's hard because there is love involved - I've been there too. But know that he and his family are not worth her love. Just as he got busy to better his life, this girl should do the same thing. Girls aren't born to suffer after they lose their virginity to assholes like this. Girls are born to live life just like men, virgin or not. Virginity is not life for girls - losing it makes no difference exactly how it doesn't for a man. Her life isn't a big question mark. When that guy can move on and live his life, she should too! Without guilt. With honour and dignity. Head held up high"

No guy ever goes that his life, dignity and honor are gone when he loses his virginity in any way - rape, consensual sex with his gf and breakup ensuing. He lives his life normally like nothing has happened. He carries on with his life. Girls should do exactly that.

Oww yea, preach my lady, preach

Break this patriarchal establishment that puts a girl's life, honor, dignity between her legs while it doesn't guys' - don't get me wrong, we don't want to reverse the shame to men; we want to obliterate the shame. Lock and key, oosi noolu adage? Men and women are humans, not fucking locks, keys, needle and thread.
