Blame the British!

"Yellam vellaikaaran panna velai sitappu." God, we as a society blame the colonial British for every damn thing, from casteism to fair skin preference. The Lord Macaulay speech about India in the British Parliament on 2nd Feb 1835 (which is historically and factually incorrect anyway and rubs off as Goebbels' propaganda) is well used to blame the British on our scourges. I want to ask and say a few things: 1. Are Jews keeping on harping about the Holocaust that killed millions of them - gassed, starved, overworked and used in gruesome experiments? No, even though small in numbers, they hold the world's economy (ippo Paari Salan group varum paarunga, Illuminati nu koovikittu) now. They didn't be crybabies on how Bergen Belsen killed Anna and Margot Frank. The concentration camps are turned into tourist hot spots. They didn't complain or dwell on the unimaginable crimes against humanity meted on them. They worked to develop themselves. 2. Are the Japanese keeping on hollering about Hiroshima and Nagasaki being nuked by the US? No, because the land is radioactive, they do agriculture on ships. They are leading the world in robotics and tech. They built skyscrapers that sway during recurring seismic activity so the buildings won't collapse. They worked to develop themselves. This is not to say that the Jews and Japs are perfect - I hate what Israel is doing to Palestine. Japs do whaling for sushi and keep a facade of peace loving people and manufacture weapons and sell them, keeping wars happening outside their borders for selfish intents. But the point is, cribbing and crying about the atrocities that happened in the past to justify our unwillingness to turn things around at present don't make mountains move. You know casteism is a problem, so don't be a casteist. You know that fair skin preference is racist, don't use Fair & Lovely, don't specify fair skin in matrimony ads and ensure every Indian skin tone is equally represented in Indian movies. You don't do all that but you keep blaming the British. What la.. ISRO is doing a wonderful job in remedying things not only in space but on earth - space technology would be extended to the development of horticulture, pest and nutrient management, post-harvest infrastructure planning and bringing cultivable wastelands and fallow land under cultivation. Efforts are on to provide species-wise advisory for fishermen on potential fishing zones also. But you get angry at the mention that SETI is finding alien life. You are quick to jump and say, "Oh India is also finding alien life - methane emitting microbes on Mars." Please learn about the difference between extraterrestrial intelligence and extraterrestrial life. Go watch Contact and ET. SETI was established in the 70s. ISRO is very recent and the tech to find extraterrestrial life is nascent. And, ISRO is trying to help people on earth - its ambitions are pretty down to earth and needfully so. First, discard empty pride and playing victim and be a proponent for progress and not have ego about it. You don't need to be in ISRO to make a difference. Treating everyone as an equal fellow human being is more than enough without crying foul over the past. No need to carry a Dalit on the shoulders and enter the temple to break casteism. Putting a hand on a human being's shoulder and putting his hand on your shoulder and walking together like it's not a big deal, just two humans being friends should be made a norm.
