The Upper Caste Tamil men who are Suddenly so Concerned about Women's Education - Exposed
I am seeing a lot of people, specifically upper caste Tamil men condemning Kausalya and now Swathi who was murdered on how they relinquished education and got married at such a young age in regards with Nandish and Swathi's honour killings. Some of the comments I read:
"Apdi enna arippu? Padippa vittutu keel jaadhi kaaran kuda odi poradhu?" (Why are you so lustful? Abandon education and elope with a low caste man?)
"Unna kalli paal vechu kollama, adhuvum college ku anupunanga paaru un amma appa, avungala solanum. Konjam avuthu unna kollama, valathu, college vareikum anupi, pombala pilla nala na enna, padikattum nu nandri visvasam irntha keel jaadhi naai kuda odi poyirpiya, padippa paathi laye vittu?" (You were lucky your parents didn't kill you because you are a girl child. Instead, they educated you and you eloped with a low caste dog, being thankless, abandoning your education.)
Basically, what are all these commentators are saying is that these girls, despite having the luck and be given the opportunity to pursue tertiary education are falling in love with Dalit boys and then running away with them abandoning their education = good future. They also have a bone with these girls being pregnant soon after (Swathi was pregnant as it is with Amrutha).
But, you know, I never saw any page or any of these guys lobbying for education for women. In fact, the mindset of padicha thimuru (arrogance due to education) is still prevalent, from Neeya Naana show to homes. I saw Tamil FB posts asking should women be educated with many of the guys saying, "No," "They can be but not too high because then they can't be controlled." And, you speak as though the women are educated so that they can be financially independent. They are educated for credentials on wedding invitations, to teach their future children = save money on tuition and be sent to work only if the family needs additional income. If not, women become the sacrificial lamb who should renounce the basic human dignity of having some money in hand earned by themselves because a woman isn't supposed to be 'too independent' and a woman's real duty is to stay home and take care of the family, cook and clean - Tamil memes drilling in that fact flood the internet, reflecting the real mindset. Remember Sivakumar's speech discouraging women from working in IT companies, urging them to get married? How many women are stopped from working after marriage - especially in these upper caste households?
Also, child marriage in which India ranks highest in the world. Did any of you make a squeak on it? Hardly. You were busy comparing PC's age with Nick Jonas' calling her his mother - endless trolling. The travails child brides face? The stopping of going to school. Vulnerability to domestic abuse - physical, mental and economic abuse. High-risk pregnancy due to the bodies of the girls not mature enough to undergo pregnancy and huge societal consequences and a higher risk of intergenerational cycles of poverty. Child marriages have also been a major driver in increasing the frequency of HIV/AIDS, delicate pregnancies, and other such health implications. Correct me if I am wrong but Swathi, Kausalya and Amrutha were above 18 when they married the men of their choice and were physically mature enough to carry a child to full term and give birth with little to no complications, provided that they don't heed to Healer Baskar.
Now, don't tell me, that's not TN, that's Madhya Pradesh. You were angry when the Indian govt termed 'Tamil fishermen' and not Indian fishermen right, saying "When Sundar Pichai became Google CEO it was Indian but when it comes to fishermen, it's Tamil?" Likewise here. When it's something bad, you want to disassociate yourself from the rest of India but when it's something good, you want to associate with the rest of India? It doesn't work that way - go listen to your Thalapathy in Thalaiva or read my post on the same thing regarding Malaysian Indians' hypocrisy at Indian citizens.
Kausalya said, "I never wanted to stop studying. Actually, my parents tried to stop me from going to college. If I had loved a boy of my caste, this wouldn't be a problem. It's because of Sankar is Dalit. We never wanted to stop studying halfway. My parents' threats and blackmail drove me to elope. I wanted to study."
So, quit putting a scene like you care so much about women's education, the opportunity, financial independence, self-assurance and confidence it brings subsequently. You don't fucking care about all that. You only care about your caste pride and women's education has simply become a trump card for you to denounce women choosing Dalit men who are probably more human and respecting women than you thence the selection. I truly think Dalit men are more inclined to equality and equity due to the persecution they face and that's why women are attracted to them. The story of Kausalya Sankar attests to that.
Above all, you only complain that women are wanting financially settled husbands, calling them materialistic bitches. You don't support women studying and earning so that such demands decrease. You don't condemn society for saying, "Why would you want to be a doctor/go overseas to work? Just marry a doctor/green card holder," to women. You don't ask for a financially independent wife. You ask for a below 25, fair-skinned, slim and beautiful wife and sit and make memes on how lil princesses don't know how to cook, clean fish and wash dishes.
So yeah, you're the authentic, A grade, Big Fat hypocritical lentils. In my eyes, you are not upper in anything good. You are lower in everything good.
