Hinduism, KK and secularism
The other day, there was an experiment going on in KK - we wanted to delve into the minds of girls who hate us and we got the answer = Hinduism.
Apparently, what we advocate at KK, freedom, liberty and human rights are against Hinduism. Let us make one thing clear, KK is secular. We do write on Hindu culture now and then but that doesn’t make Hinduism KK’s official religion, merely an offshoot like other social problems we touch.
Apparently, this is Kaliyuga and it is written that immorality will be the order of the day and that in Mahabaratham, it is written that men and women of this age will indulge in clubbing and drinking and there will be an immoral bunch who will encourage that and for them, it’s KK. Mahabaratham is the longest epic in the world, beating the Odyssey by Homer and I doubt these people read it as for KK’s 300 word article also depa malas baca. I also wonder how come the crimes that Indians do on a daily basis, chopping each other up, robbing, thieving were missed in this religious facet? Why no one uses Hinduism to install morality in these grave wrongdoers and instead prefer to attack trivial things?
First of all I pity your knowledge about Hinduism - there is nothing forbidden in Hinduism - there are gods for liquor and lust - Soma and Kama. Hinduism's concept is very simple, karma based. If you drink, destroy your divine body, and become a slave to Soma, you will pay your karma, get liver cirrhosis, lose your money, and whatever consequence. If you don't drink, you get the dharma of health. And who said Indian ladies drinking is a modern phenomenon? Our grandmas and great grandmothers drank alcohol after toiling the whole day in estates. The purpose is the same - to de-stress and unwind. So what’s the difference? Drinking in estates and drinking in clubs.
However if you want to attain moksha there are several things you should refrain from doing, including judging people without knowing what they account for. Tell me, is calling women sluts for drinking a periya punniyam? Nope, it's sin. First you need to keep yourself correct - don't litter, don't judge others for their choices. Mudhala naama correct ah irukanum. I personally don't drink but at the same time I don't condemn others who do, be it men or women. They will face the karma of their doing. Eh, please la, clubbing is predicted in Mahabarata konon. Nostradamus predicted that the world will end in 2012 - its 2016 and we’re still here.
Vice, if you'd call clubbing that, is present in every era. Men had kootiyans (mistresses) in the olden days, married many wives, mother-in-laws burnt their daughters in law alive, etc. Anthe kodumai vidava clubbing kodumai? (Are those atrocities worse than clubbing?) Above all, you people will fit perfectly in Saudi Arabia. Yes, ideally, one shouldn’t drink/smoke but so is leading an unhealthy sedentary lifestyle but personal health is just that, personal. First of all learn to separate religion from civil liberties and human rights. When Indira Gandhi was separated from her child under shariah law epdi kothichi poninge (how did y’all came to boiling point), that mother's love transcends religions nu. Likewise, civil liberties transcend religion.
All of us have our karma accounts. Kovil ku pore ponnu utthami um ille, club ku pore ponnu kedu kettava yum alla. Kannal parpathum poi, kaadhal ketpathum poi, theevire visaranaiye mei. Avunga avungalukku manasule enna kuppai irukku nu yarku teriyum? (The girl who goes to temple isn’t good and the girl who clubs isn’t bad. What you see and hear are lies, further investigation is truth. Who knows what rubbish is in whose heart?) Change begins with you - in us being on the verge of one year in running KK, we have come across many double faced people who outwardly be proponents of Hindu and Indian culture but aren’t even capable of being honest or good people. You can cheat people but you cannot cheat God. Siapa makan cili, dia rasa pedas. Adieu.
