Macha not being able to take it if a meenachi corrects his English

This has been going on for a long time and we are going to talk about this strange phenomenon today. Machas and their fluency in English language. Ok, we can sense some machas thinking – sapderuthu paruppu, pesurathu English (eating parupu, but talk English). Yen da, paruppu sapduruvanggelam English pesakudathu nu yaaru sonna? (Who told you those who eat paruppu should not speak English?) Well, we all know these machas are plain low in the English proficiency level so they say such things to discourage meenachis to speak in English to them and to avoid major embarrassment due to their non-proficient English. (Ithu elarkum terinji vishayam – this is an established fact).

Before we go further, let us quickly state that not all machas have bad English proficiency. Some are average and some are really good. So, today we will focus on the machas with average and good English proficiency. See problems with these groups of machas is that they get all ‘proud peacock’ that they can master English language. Then, they go around speaking in English like nobody’s business and start insulting meenachis whom they consider to have lower English proficiencies than them. They go – please go and learn English before you come and talk to to me. However, when the same macha comes across another meenachi who has superb English language proficiency and corrects his English – he goes all sour grape mode.

This is what happened to one such macha (screenshots are included). He gets defensive when his English was corrected. In fact, his English is ‘lintang-pukang’ but he dares to insult another meenachi on the same issue. He gets angry and said – meenachi must not post comment because she has no right to talk about boys. Yenda, English kum boys kum ennada samantham? (What’s the relation between English and boys?) Oh…ok, maybe he meant to say that if a guy corrected his English, it’s ok. If it comes from a meenachi, then it puts a huge dent on his ego. Yen da inthe manem kette polappu? Yen inthe vetti gauravam? (What’s with the embarrassing attitude and shitty dignity?) This is what we Indians say ‘tanah dah melekat kat misai, tak mengaku pulak’. Yaaru thappe sutti kaatuna enna? Thappe thirenthe solle aan enna, penn enna?(Why gender is an issue to pinpoint a mistake? To tell to rectify a matter, what’s gender got to do it?) If ladies are such an abomination, you give birth henceforth.

Many Indian guys practice the same approach. They have no qualms insulting a meenachi with lower English proficiency. Yet, when the table are turned, they get defensive and start giving excuses on why meenachi shouldn’t correct them. We, the KK admins faced this problem with a number of machas out there. And because of this narrow, shallow minded, another product of ‘ambele gethu’ attitude – machas’ level of English proficiency is still down the drain. Yenda inthe onnum purijinum illathe ‘ambele gethu/bantha vei kuranggu maari pudichikittu thonggeringge? (Why are you still holding on to the useless ‘ambele gethu/bantha phrase like a monkey hanging to a tree branch?) Please improve on your attitude and way of thinking because it is only at your disadvantage. Everyone knows something you don’t and just because it’s a woman correcting you, you don’t have to be so high and mighty. Remember, you came out of a woman.
