Prenuptial medical checkup - it’s vital
I am enraged by the story of a woman who was infected by HIV by her husband that KK posted earlier - her 2 kids are HIV positive as well. I first saw such cases in the program Acchamillai Acchamillai hosted by actress Lakshmi some years back - young Indian women who were infected by HIV by their husbands told their harrowing story, how their husbands hid their debauched past from them. And the worst part is, they had arranged marriages.
Nowadays, it is the Indian trend to mock, ridicule and belittle Indian girls - their marriageable worth is stupidly determined by the ability to make round dosas and biryani and when this stupidity is questioned, it’s just a joke. Because, it is not a joke - like how in Thani Oruvan it’s shown that how behind petty crimes, organized crimes operate, behind these petty trolls, organized atrocities operate. Take for example this famous quote by Indian guys - in those days, parents searched for good boys for their daughters; these days, parents are searching for good girls for their daughters. This quote is made to hide the wrong things guys do and turn the tables on Indian girls. Things that Indian girls do like swearing, drinking, smoking, smoking weed and having premarital sex are used as a benchmark to brand them bad girls. But, Indian guys who do all that and more like frequenting brothels, having multiple sexual partners and doing drugs sharing syringes, no one complains. Because it’s a manly thing to do - look who’s paying the price now due to venereal diseases, particularly HIV.
HIV was discovered in humans in 1985, in Africa so this is a disease that is quite recent - not yet existing during our parents and grandparents time. In that 30 years, HIV became an epidemic and yet there are many Indians (for the record India’s number 2 in the world for AIDS) who don’t know the difference between HIV and AIDS, how it spreads and doesn’t spread and what are the treatments available. Of course you won’t know all these - you’re so lazy to read.
Okay, facts aside, INDIANS, YOU DON’T HAVE TO SEE ASTROLOGY WHEN YOU WANT TO GET MARRIED BUT YOU HAVE TO DO PRENUPTIAL MEDICAL CHECKUP. Prenuptial medical checkup ideally should be made mandatory by the law but unfortunately it isn’t but ironically drug smuggling and prostitution are illegal. So, now, you can’t rely on systems and don’t put trust in the person you are going to marry. Indians are an emotional lot - bring up prenuptial medical checkup and not only the person rages, his/her family too will get into army defence mode - en paiyan thappu pannamaatan (my son won’t do wrong) This is especially true for Indian mothers who think the sun rises from their son’s backside. If you ask your bf to do medical checkup, please don’t fall for these lines, “En mele unakku ivlo than nambikai ah?” (You only trust me this much?) Machas use this line when asking for sex and a nanosecond later talk about Indian culture and how nowadays girls are so cheap so yes, this is how much we trust you. It’s very simple - if you didn’t do anything wrong, you need not be afraid. What’s more important than trust is personal health - namba uyirode irukunuma illaya? (one has to be alive to trust, not?)
If you have contracted HIV, machas, don’t worry as it is no longer a rapid death sentence. If you truly repent, come clean and there are ways devised by medical breakthroughs that have found treatment for people with HIV and many people currently HIV positive are healthier than HIV negative people. There is no cure for HIV/AIDS, but there is a treatment, called antiretroviral therapy, which can suppress the HIV virus and prolong the lives of people with HIV/AIDS. If people start taking antiretroviral therapy before the disease has advanced, they can live nearly as long as people without HIV.
But the important thing is getting diagnosed and treatment ASAP, before HIV progresses to AIDS. This is KK’s sincere request to all - do prenuptial medical checkups. It is better to be safe than sorry. You don’t have to fear if you have nothing to hide and this applies to both guys and girls.
