REMO – YET ANOTHER LADIES BASHING MOVIE

We know that machas out there will start telling us – It’s just a movie for entertainment, take it easy and stop over –analyzing. Ok, fine but how would you machas feel if you were to sit through a movie that labels all machas as idiots, cheaters who can’t be trusted in love and are not capable of making any important decisions in life? How would you feel if the movie portrays machas who are playboys and needed women to influence their thoughts? How would you feel if songs were created with lyrics like – angalai nambathe, life single eh jolly’ (don’t trust men, life is a lot better being single). Would you still take it as entertainment? So stop telling us ladies, to take it easy with such movies.

Remo, another Tamil movie which basically downplays a woman’s capacity in deciding what’s best for her in her life. Throw in stalking a girl scene until she falls for him, confuse her with stupid phrase like – arranged marriage is for those whom are ugly and brainless and pester her again and again (with the thought that she actually loves the hero even if she doesn’t tell him) and create a negative connotation of the alternative hero – gives you a movie like REMO. In fact, the bridegroom that was selected for the heroine is a doctor but he is portrayed negatively to nail in the fact that the heroine is making a big mistake by not choosing the hero himself. Hero’s qualification – jobless, hangs out with equally jobless friends, has bad academic qualifications and a mother who vadichi kotturen (cooks and cleans) for him. Although hero’s mother points out that he is jobless and that is an obstacle to marriage, hero refuses to listen to her. Somehow a jobless hero is portrayed as the ideal choice for the heroine compared to the doctor mappilai. And this is what the public sees as entertainment.

Arrange marriage is for those whom are ugly and brainless – says nurse REMO. So, those mothers and grandmothers who agreed to marry based on the family selection are ugly and brainless? How about guys who agreed towards arrange marriage? Equally ugly and brainless as well? Nope this phrase is not funny at all. It’s funny how Tamil movies twist and turn at every angle to suit macha’s needs. Some years back, it was – parthone kathal varanum (Love at first sight), then it is yenna parka, parka than kathal varum – says macha to ladies out there. Then, it is senior machas falling for junior girls. Then, it was younger machas falling for older girls like Simbu in his movies. The best part is how these machas justify their whims at every turn. NOPE, this is not entertainment but pure idiocy.

So, stop telling us, ladies to take it easy. We didn’t pay to get insulted, degraded and humiliated at every Tamil movie. Imagine if the tables were turned and machas were insulted at every turn, will you take it easy? KK bashing machas in articles gets many machas reeled up. So, can you imagine what will happen if movies start bashing machas? Ask yourself whether you can tolerate insults before you ask others to take it easy.
