Thalapathy - a stellar Tamil movie

Thalapathy is a groundbreaking movie that many people have been overlooking. Many know that Thalapathy is an adaptation of the friendship between Karnan and Duryodhana. Yet, much of the movie's stereotype shattering remains under current. Here they are:

1. That love failure happens and in the aftermath, act like 2 matured individuals who still care about each other. The hero doesn't kick up a fuss after the girl leaves him and neither he plots to destroy her life.

2. The acceptance of a rape victim - a man marrying a rape victim who had an illegitimate child. He is extremely supportive and understanding of the dilemma of his wife and her son she abandoned due to circumstances.

3. The man accepting his wife's illegitimate son as his own son.

4. A man marrying a widow and accepting her child as his own. He forgoing carnal pleasure and declaring that he is merely a guard for the woman he married and her daughter.

One can't even find the breaking of these stereotypes in current Indian movies so Thalapathy, which also features Rajini's best acting to date, is in a league of its own.
