Breaking traditions ft Princess Diana

Many of you may not know this but the British royalty had the tradition of male heirs to the throne marrying a virgin - virginity was a prerequisite and yes, Princess Diana was a virgin when she was married to Prince Charles. The queen ascertained it yo - she was just 19 when she got engaged and 20 when she got married. The prince have had several relationships prior to his marriage to Lady Di Spencer, including with Camilla Parker Bowles, his current wife. His virginity of course was not intact.

But, Diana's boys, both of em, broke that tradition. Prince William's vanguard nuance wasn't immediately obvious, with Kate Middleton but Prince Harry married Meghan Markle who is a divorcee. I reckon both boys took after their mother's own trailblazing ways in breaking traditions which even the queen had to give in due to progression of times.

Diana chose her engagement ring from a catalogue, broke the tradition of home schooling for her boys, sending them to a public school, taking them to McD, amusement parks and soup kitchens where when William was holding a food packet and a homeless man grabbed it from him, scowling. The people's princess famously said to her terrorised son, "Not everyone likes us William."

Diana may not be with us now but her influence has proved to be immense. Both princes are grounded, not rigid and more people friendly. Kate Middleton adopted Diana's way of meeting children, kneeling down to them and see eye to eye. Princess of Wales' down to earth ways shattered royal traditions down the decades. Princess Diana has left her rebellious streak in her sons.

Traditions that don't acknowledge human inclusiveness and time's progressions need to be broken. When are Indians are going to learn this invaluable lesson from the woman who held HIV positive babies in her arm, cradling them like a mother would, not caring about the queen's concern about infections?
