Kakkoos Review
With just over 400,000 views on YouTube compared to Jimikki Kammal dance video and Lakshmi short film reaction, Kakkoos hits me on how fucked up our priorities are.
Kakkoos taught me that caste discrimination and misogyny will never be made an issue because others benefit greatly from it. Although manual scavenging had been outlawed, still the administrative system perpetuates it. Like the wall in Citizen Atthipatti, these people are given the equipment, photos taken and then confiscated back. The quality of the equipment isn't so great either. Kakkoos made me realize that Swaach Bharat is only for guys who can afford Swatch watches.
The casteism is horrible - operates on the basis so what if those people die? In the own words of the people, "This Hindu society is the cause of all this. They never want us to go to other jobs - this is our job. It had been imposed on us by this religion."
I wonder, will these people feel proud of ISRO's achievements? I am not saying that we shouldn't look beyond the frontier. I am saying that we should look down to earth too. Human dignity should be enabled for everyone. Then we can go look for aliens.
And, you know what? You don't have to build fancy machinery to clean sewage and shit - Effective Microorganisms will do. When cultured in certain conditions, these microbes convert solid waste into water - that water is clean. The people can be trained to learn how to use EM and channel and treat the water.
The public needs to flush the toilet after using - un pi eh flush panna enna kashtam?? Kalacharam, kalacharam nu kooviringa - toilet eh flush pandrethu kalacharama aakunga da!
We will tear the MANU which said this fate and wipe our ass with it. PERFECT.
