Musical.ly - How Indian Girls are perceived?

Recently, there has been so much of interest among Indian girls to do dubmash or music.ly. These videos can be found in Youtube and I must say, I personally enjoy watching them. Why? Because they serve as a good entertainment after a long day at work. A stress relieve I would say.

What irritates me is that fact that many Indian guys and girls (maybe from Malaysia & India) who watch these videos are posting comments as if they are holier than thou. Here are some comments which gets me pissed off all the time and please bear in mind, I literally copy-pasted comments from random musical.ly videos made by Indian girls to reflect on the mentality of the viewers:

a) PPR flat le porukere kandara oli
b)  Nai ..ke poranthe NAI🐩
c) Bro this is not cute dubmash...It's Lust Dubmash...change title Makkeh
d) This is no dubsmash kandara oli
e) Kandara oli tevudiyaluge...poi urupadiya vere velai seinge di
f)  Yellam perusa iruku
g) dress properly ......tamil culture'eh assingam paduthathingge
h) podi thevidiya pundamavale

These girls are just being expressive and frankly, I think more and more Indian girls are coming out of their shells - boldly making videos. Not everyone can do such videos, trying to mimic expressions or movie dialogues. Some of these girls really do have talents and probably need a good coach to train them as dancers ( I am not kidding here). They do have talents, but lacking a stage or platform that can help to further brush their skills. However, what disappoints me are the comments by viewers which were both crude and personally attacking these girl - some are lecherous.

First of all, just because they do musical.ly videos, they are not whores....They are just mimicking what the movie heroines are doing - that's all. This certainly does not mean the girls are of loose morale or that they are whoring themselves off. It is normal for people to want attention - through likes, shares or some kind of public recognition. Being famous and social acceptance is a trend today with easy access to social media. It is superficial and shallow to a certain extend but it is certainly is not wrong. They don't deserve any personal attacks let alone being labelled whore/slut. What makes you use such words towards girls whom are just making the videos for fun? They never did destroy anyone and if you personally find it a nuisance, you shouldn't be watching the videos in the first place. I noticed that mostly are the same viewers who will post vulgar comments repeatedly under these videos asking the girls to dress properly.

Of course, some of these girls were suffering from what we call as 'wardrobe malfunction". They wear bras or shorts which looked out of place with the dance that they are doing. Since these videos are very much home-made, the girls are using what they have to appear glamorous. A polite comment on the dressing will do and if you noticed that others have made the comment, what's the point of highlighting it again? To humiliate the girls?

I never really understood the negative approach towards girls who just wanted to have some fun by making videos. Plus, why is there a need to drag their parents and upbringing into the whole comment? If we were to correlate each and every macha who is involved with gangsterism and criminal activities to their parents upbringing, we can say that a huge number of parents have failed in educating their sons.

However, no one talks about such criminal activities. Recently, a guy was assaulted by 20 Indian guys in Malaysia and he died. He was just 22 years old Indian guy. Why no one addresses such issues? Is dressing (among girls) a bigger problem than criminal activities (among guys) within the Indian society? Selective moral policing and 'kalacharam seerkedu' comments are totally misplaced yet everyone is happily condemning the girls.

Even worst, when guys whom were lecherous in the comment section started preaching on the girls' eligibility for marriage based on their attitude. Somehow, marriage eligibility is only determine by a girl's behavior while guys can scoot fucking free without accountability - which is unfair. We can keep on talking about these nasty comments until the cows come home, but one thing is clear - Indians prefer focusing on petty things like women's dressing rather than addressing socially detrimental issues such as gangsterism or criminal activities. And it is not helping us to move forward as a society..we are regressing much.
