Let women dress as they like - what's the fuss?
A voice message is being circulated in WhatsApp along with a picture of 5 girls in saree condemning the way they wore saree. Apparently, that is why MBI banned saree at it’s Raya do, because it is tied in such a way, that it goes against eastern culture. And apparently, the Malays decided that the way Indian ladies wear the saree warranted the ban - too much aabasam (exposing) and kannai uruthuremaari (menjolok mata). Wear anything, kecuali saree. The voice continues to ask whether the way the 5 girls wore saree, is that Indian cultural dress. Saree is the traditional dress of Indians but is the way the girls wear it as per Indian culture? If Malays can kaari thupperan (spit) and say don’t wear saree, yes we get angry but are the ladies wearing saree properly? As proponents of culture and traditions, let’s think whether or not the way saree is being tied by ladies adhere to our culture and traditions. We should rectify how saree is being worn by the ladies. After we rectify and still the Malays say no saree then we can say that they are racist. But we ourselves are in the wrong. Look at the example on how ladies are tying saree and think.
You see, quit placing culture and traditions on women’s bodies. The Malays can’t even tolerate ‘ketat’. There are so many examples on the regression of Malays by placing their religious honour on the bodies of women - Farah Ann Hadi’s gymnastic leotard became an issue, women who choose not to wear tudung are criticized, the Malay girl who acted in Petronas Merdeka ad as a child now all grown up pic came under fire just coz she didn’t wear tudung - sudah besar, emm besarnya - referring to the girl’s breasts. Now, even a woman’s baby bump is considered aurat and should be covered. How in the world to cover a 9 month pregnancy, I can’t fathom. It just gets atrocious by the day and Indians want to jump into the bandwagon?
You see, this is caused by porn addiction on behalf of men - it’s not even culture and tradition - the most religious countries and states where the women are hammered, cannot show skin, cannot smoke, cannot drink, must stay virgin till marriage while the men are free to do what they want have the most porn traffic. See the irony. It’s based on a very simple concept of human curiosity. The more you hide something from a human, the more the human would want to see it - the human will use all devices possible to see it. Basic human trait that is. So, when you always hide something from someone, he or she, will somehow find a way to see it - like the forbidden fruit. When you always hide women’s body curiosity triggers and men will seek another way to see it = porn. And it creates sexual frustration and harassment and rape happens - women in burqa are raped because it’s all in the head. Pray tell if you say when a woman fully covers herself, she’s immune from rape, what does burga show for women clad in it to be raped? The same sexual frustration is what makes children and the elderly victims of rape. Malaysia ranks 3rd in pedophilic tendencies in ASEAN. That says something doesn’t it?
Islam was founded in the desert where frequent sandstorm and scorching temperature are inherent. So the populace there covered themselves in loose fitting clothing and veils to protect themselves from the elements. Clothes are very geographical rather than traditional.
In the olden days Indian culture was not about women being fully covered up. Centuries back, our ladies were topless because our mindsets were pure and untainted with perversion - that’s why you see most our goddess statues are topless. When the British invaded India they corrupted the minds of Indians - they only introduced the sex position that is used in female rape, the missionary position. Previously, Indians never raped. Kamasutra was described to make one get fed up of sex and start a life of abstinence, using sex for reproduction only, the controlling and killing of lust. The English drilled into us that skin show on women are sin and shame. We are now actually following Victorian culture, not Indian culture. This is not to say our women should go topless but rather men controlling themselves immaterial of what ladies wear. In the past, the English spoiled us by drilling in that women are the source of sin and shame and today they are spoiling us by marketing pornography. You will accept Sunny Leone (nothing against her) as Bollywood actress but won’t accept a rape victim. You see how corrupt we’ve got?
If you follow culture and tradition that urge women to cover up so much - so called kalachara veriyans then why the fuck do you watch porn and fap to it? Porn is cultural and traditional?
