Remo, a movie that insults the intelligence of girls and glorifies stalking

Watched Remo the other day. Well, besides the contemptible glorification of stalking, I was amazed on how new levels are took to make girls look utterly stupid, heart breakers and of course the cause for all ills that befall guys.

The song, Senjitaley is as wrong as it can get - tholle panni thiriyama, alayama kadhale vena, vena (I don't need the love that comes without pestering, disturbing and following) Even after multiple murders in Tamilnadu of girls who spurned the men that stalked them in the name of love and the outrage that ensued and the cause, identified as the portrayal of love in Indian cinema compounded by strict boy-girl mingling rules in Chennai colleges which stunts opposite sex understanding, especially of ambitions girls might have, filmmakers continue to perpetuate such ideas in their movies.

The dialogue that one can't control women easily but confusing them is a piece of cake and the girl, a doctor by profession, can be influenced by unsubstantiated claims is really insulting.

A lady doctor being so shallow, she can't find out a man impersonating as a woman, can't sniff out her credentials of being a nurse and proceeds to not have a backbone and can be swayed so easily by not only idealistic brainwaves but those that insult men and women (arranged marriages are only for dumb and ugly men and women) extends the impression that women may go miles as far as education and profession are concerned but still inept at countering life's many facets, let alone have a firm opinion on everything or the ability to think critically. If that's not insulting, I don't know what is.

Now, everyone will jump at me saying that the protagonist touches the feet of his mother when she sleeps after witnessing childbirth. You can't apply dettol to a small area of injury and expect all the injury to heal - similarly, respecting your mother just because she gave birth to you and thinking that it's fine to dupe a woman, and then accuse her of making you cry when as a man you shouldn't cry (crying is human anyway) and that love is injurious to life doesn't cancel out each other. Point is, a woman doesn't have to become a mother to earn respect - Tamil movie makers need to understand that.

I am still waiting for the day when Indian women are shown as smart and capable in Indian movies. Yes, they do show women as successful but it's always at the same time, conceited and callous and  the leading hero will be assigned the task to subjugate her and reduce her into 'how a woman should be', perhaps as stupid as Dr Kavya in Remo. If she won't pander to the male idea of the ideal woman, then she is destroying her own life. I don't understand why can't Tamil filmmakers make women characters smart, successful and sensible at the same time. Girls are either exploited as eye candy or given bimbo roles while glorifying jobless machas roles. Tamil filmmakers have a social responsibility but they are not fulfilling it.
