Blame those without professional ethics, not their victims!
I am seeing so many men and women fucking shamelessly and stupidly saying that it’s the women’s fault for ‘adjusting’ in the film industry. How many are shaming Sri Reddy for sleeping with so many men in the industry for roles in films?
I want to ask these people simple questions.
When the only criteria to act are talent, passion and dedication, why do the directors/producers only agree to give roles to women who are willing to bed them?
If a woman offers sex as an exchange for a film role, as a professional, should a director/producer tell her off, “Lady, look, I only have eyes for your talent, not for your bed performance,” or sleep with her and then give her the film role?
Is it wrong of people in power to take advantage and network to sexually use women or the wrong of the women being trusting, helpless and having ambitions?
If the directors and big names in the film industry apply meritocracy - that only talent is the criteria besides dedication and passion to acting to win a role and not willingness to share the bed, then we wouldn’t we have got quality actors to look up to?
What do work and professional ethics mean to you? Directors and producers saying, “Ok, if you won’t adjust with me, there are plenty of women who are willing. It’s your loss.”?
While you all struggle to answer my questions, let me destroy your fucked up definition of dignity and honour. Having ambitions and career goals aren’t indignity or dishonor and walking away from men in power wanting sex in exchange for jobs isn’t honoured and dignified. Just stop and think how many talents were lost for your wrongly defined meaning of dignity and honour. The only people who are dishonoured and undignified here are those using their position to bed young girls, girls that they know are 'clean' - refer to the scene in Aruvi where the director of the show shows relief - enakku antha ponnu oda sex vechikuttu AIDS vara paathuchu, not those having ambitions and willingness to work to achieve their goals.
You may ask so if she slept with the director and got the role, she wouldn't have come out right? Yes. But when she didn't get her end of the deal, she has all the right to kick up a fuss. If a government that you voted for didn't keep its promises, will you keep quiet? Very simple - to all the Tamil boys, when your gf who promised to stay with you forever, marry you and love you forever does a cartwheel and marries someone else, are you keeping quiet? How many songs and punch dialogues vilifying women as 'insincere' and 'heartbreakers'? From the movie Youth to Moonu, boys are constantly kicking up a fuss about women who didn't keep the end of their deal. When betrayal of trust hurt you boys so much, what makes you think it's different for girls? The pain of duplicity feels the same for everyone.
At the end of the day we are all human beings that want to survive - in Jayam Kondan, the hero will say, "Oruthan adangi poran na, avanukku poruppu irku nu artham. Amma appa ve paathukanum. Tanggachi ah kalyanam panni kudukanum. Thambi ah padikka vekanum." Same logic here.
Who should you question? You should question those without professional ethics, not their victims. To act/do any other job/get good grades, all that should be taken into account are talent, skills and erudition, not the willingness to bed. When men and women in power and authority put the latter as the primary condition, we won't get the cream of the crop of a workforce and educated people. This is corruption – the same way we don’t get safe food, safe buildings, good governance, this is the same. WE AS A SOCIETY GET FUCKED TOO. So, fucking question those bigwigs who abuse their power to exploit, not the victims. Having career goals isn't a crime, abusing power is. I am saying this in a gender-neutral perspective.
I know that this won't get into the heads of many people because we have a transactional culture as a society - we even give god this and that for returns. But, when women give their body because they have little to no choice, are trusting, it's kalachara seerkedu, thevidiya punda.
